Gerrard leaves Ettifaq just five points above the relegation zone and it raises the question of whether the former Rangers and Aston Villa boss will ever manage again
Gerrard reportedly asked to leave the Dammam club after 18 months in charge, with an announcement expected imminently.
Ettifaq finished sixth in his first season in the league, up from seventh the campaign prior. Given the talent made available by the revamped Pro League, this was considered the bare minimum, although Henderson Ettifaq had won just two of their past 14 league matches and were knocked out of the domestic cup by a second-tier side.
Since leaving Rangers, where he oversaw an unbeaten Scottish Premiership season which increasingly appears an aberration, he has won just 37 per cent of his games as manager.
