Gerrard wants to reunite with his former Ibrox kitman Jim McAllister after the two parted ways when he left for Aston Villa.
The former Rangers boss has already signed Scotland star Jack Hendry and Gerrard is now looking to add ex-Ibrox kit chief Jim McAlister to his backroom team. McAlister has been offered the chance to join the Saudi Pro League club and Gerrard wants his former employee to take over as Al-Ettifaq’s kit coordinator.
The former Morton and Dundee midfielder previously worked under Jimmy Bell before he stepped up to take the main role. McAlister moved to Ibrox in 2021 but left earlier this year and Gerrard wants to offer a footballing return to team up with him again in the Middle East. Al-Ettifaq currently sit fourth in the Saudi Pro League. Gerrard has invested heavily to bring in ex-Celtic stars Moussa Kemble and Hendry, along with Demarai Gray and ex-Liverpool players Jordan Henderson and Georgino Wijnaldum.
The Saudis have invested heavily to bring in top stars Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Roberto Firmino and N’Golo Dante this summer. Al-Ittihad also spent big to sign Jota from Celtic although he has struggled to make an impact.
