Steven Gerrard has been under pressure at Saudi Pro League outfit Al Ettifaq
Steven Gerrard is poised to be reunited with former Liverpool coach Michael Beale as he is reportedly set to be named the new assistant manager of Al Ettifaq. Last month, the Saudi Pro League outfit dismissed assistant manager Dean Holden and sporting director Mark Allen from their roles, with Gerrard's side winless in eight league games.
Gerrard enjoyed a successful debut campaign at Ettifaq last term as the club finished sixth in the Saudi Pro League. However, this season has been much harder for the Reds legend, with his side having not won a league game since they defeated Al Fateh on September 14. Last month, though, he admitted he has no problem shouldering the responsibility of the club's recent form. “On the back of recent results in my position, you are always aware of disappointment from fans,” said Gerrard.
