Stockport Train Station in Greater Manchester was temporarily renamed 'Scottport' to celebrate DJ Scott Mills's new role as the host of the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show. The station's signage and information screens were changed for the day, marking a quirky tribute to the popular DJ.

Early morning commuters at Stockport Train Station were left bewildered this morning upon discovering the station sign had been altered to 'Scottport'. The curious change was first shared on X (formerly Twitter) by the account managing Stop In Stockport, which posted a picture of the new signage with the caption: 'What is going on at Stockport station '.

Another user, @jonobbs, also captured an image of the 'Scottport' sign from inside a moving train and inquired, 'What's going on?' The reason for this temporary rebranding lies in celebrating DJ Scott Mills's new role as the host of the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show. The station's signage and information screens were all changed to 'Scottport' for the day as Mills commenced his new position on Monday morning. A station spokesperson conveyed to Mills on air, 'The team have been working so hard right the way through the night to change Stockport to Scottport. All the information screens have been changed. All the signage has been changed from Stockport to Scottport… A whole new town, a whole new name, just to welcome Scott Mills.' Mills, who mentioned living 'quite near' Stockport in the past, described the changes as 'bonkers' and 'like a fever dream' while expressing his gratitude to the station team.Praising Mills's talent, Davina McCall, a well-known television personality, sent him words of encouragement on his first day hosting the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show. Mills played a message sent by McCall on Monday morning, which stated: “Scott, it’s Davina, oh my goodness you are amazing! I love it. How long have I been a fan Scott? Like forever. I know how much this means to you, I know how hard you have worked throughout your entire career and I also know what an amazing broadcaster you are.” McCall concluded her message with one of her iconic catchphrases from her time as Big Brother host, saying: “I am so happy for you Scott Mills and, brace yourself, I’m coming to get you.
