Tom Cannon scores four goals as Stoke thrash Portsmouth for their first Championship win under new boss Narcis Pelach.
Tom Cannon scored four goals as Stoke City thrashed Portsmouth to claim their first Championship win under new head coach Narcis Pelach.
It set the tone for a blistering performance and the home side got their reward when Cannon's dipping free-kick bounced just in front of Pompey goalkeeper Will Norris, who got a hand to his effort but could not keep it out. Shortly after the interval, Cannon was brought down in the area by Norris after Murphy hesitated to deal with a loose ball and the 21-year-old striker dusted himself down to complete his hat-trick.
O'Mahony's first goal since joining on loan from Brighton became a mere consolation in a defeat that leaves Portsmouth 23rd, above bottom side Cardiff City only on goal difference, despite that also taking a severe blow."Great win. Very happy for the players, for the staff and for the fans. "The two goals we concede before half-time were just abysmal. Then second half, Stoke killed the game off very early. All times UK. Tables are subject to change. The BBC is not responsible for any changes that may be made.Stoke City have won both of their last two league games against Portsmouth, and will be looking to win three in succession for the first time since April 1963.
