The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning for parts of the UK
Brits are being urged to prepare for potentially severe power disruptions, hazardous travel conditions and risks to life as Storm Ashley is set to unleash its fury on parts of the UK come Sunday.
Moreover, damage to buildings is expected according to the Met Office's statements, alongside travel havoc, as "longer journey times and cancellations likely, as road, rail, air and ferry services may be affected". The likelihood of road closures in the worst-hit locations is high."Injuries and danger to life is likely from large waves and beach material being thrown onto coastal roads, sea fronts and properties," added the Met Office advisories.
"Initially a period of strong south to southeasterly winds will likely develop through Sunday morning, with gusts of 50-60 mph possible in some inland areas, especially Northern Ireland and western Scotland, and perhaps up to 60-70 mph along exposed coasts and hills," cited the Met Office briefing.
