Glasgow is set to be hit by powerful winds of up to 83 mph on Sunday as Storm Ashley sweeps across the UK. A yellow weather warning covers Scotland, Northern Ireland, parts of Wales and northwest England, while an amber warning has been issued for Argyll and Bute, with a risk of power cuts, building damage and potential danger to life.
Glasgow is set to be blasted by gale force winds on Sunday as Storm Ashley wreaks havoc across much of the UK.
An amber warning has been issued for Argyll and Bute, with the Met Office predicting a 'good chance' of power cuts, damage to buildings, and a 'likely' danger to life. Strong gusts of more than 50 mph will be felt in Glasgow from early morning Sunday, with gusts of up to 69mph across Argyll and Bute arriving as early as 7am.
The yellow weather warning is in place from 3am to 11.59pm Sunday. The amber warning is in place from 9am to 11.59pm Sunday. Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist Tony Wisson, said: "Storm Ashley will bring strong winds for most of the UK on Sunday before it clears on Monday, with a chance of some disruption across parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland, Northwest England and West Wales.
