The Yorkshire region has been issued a number of flood warnings and flood alerts by the Environment Agency. An alert currently remains in force for high tides along the North Sea coast. Low-lying land and roads near the coast, including Bridlington, are the areas most at risk. Strong winds and disruption are expected to come to Northwest England on Sunday, from Storm Ashley.Joint Cyclone Centre has issued an updates, stating the storm 'expected to become a Category 3 cyclone later tonight...' This comes afer a yellow alert from the Environment Agency.
The agency said: "Further flooding is possible over the weekend due to higher than normal tides and this alert may be re-issued as a result. We are closely monitoring the situation. Stay away from beaches, promenades, footpaths, and roads in, as waves and spray could be dangerous."
