The third named storm of the season arrived yesterday, forcing the Met Office to issue a string of alerts.
People in certain areas of Scotland have been warned that heavy rain and winds caused by Storm Ciarán have the potential to cause some danger, including flooding and power cuts.
Alex Burkill, Met Office meteorologist, warned that the heavy rain forecast during the storm on Thursday may cause some disruption and flooding - just weeks after Storm Babet tore through the country. The rain warning, which also covers areas in the northeast of England, came into force at 6am today and will last until 6am on Friday, November 3.
He added: "But still some strong winds likely and some further heavy rain for eastern parts of Scotland and northeast England through the night."
