Hundreds have been rescued in South Wales after their homes were devastated by the flooding
Around 80 flood warnings are in place in the region, after the River Taff burst its banks in Pontypool this morning. South Wales Police have declared Sunday’s severe flooding as a major incident, as hundreds are being evacuated by boat in Monmouthshire and Neath, while rescue centres have been set up in Merthyr Tydfil.Many in Pontypridd, Taff’s Well and Nantgarw in Rhondda Cynon Taff, have also had their homes devastated.The Environment Agency’s flood and coastal risk management executive director John Curtin said on Sunday that there were a record 594 flood warnings and alerts in force.
