Storm Éowyn has brought strong winds and heavy rain to the Shropshire border, resulting in power outages and concerns about flooding. Thousands of homes are without electricity, with engineers working to restore supplies as quickly as possible. River levels are expected to rise, with warnings of potential flooding in low-lying areas.

Properties on the Shropshire border could be without power until 9pm today due to damage caused by Storm Éowyn. The extent of the power outages is unclear, but National Grid reports that three properties near Ditton Priors are currently affected. Scottish Power's live power cut map indicates that the storm has caused damage to their electricity network. Engineers are working to assess the damage and will begin repairs as soon as it is safe, aiming to restore power by 9.03pm.

The West Midlands region is experiencing strong winds and rain due to the storm. \The storm has prompted warnings of potential service disruptions and cancellations. Meteorologists issued a risk-to-life warning on Friday as Storm Éowyn, the fifth named storm of the season, approached. Similar disruptions to those caused by Storm Darragh in December are anticipated, and the Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for wind across the region. Met Eireann, the Irish meteorological service, reported a wind speed of 114mph in Ireland this morning, the fastest ever recorded. \Residents have been advised that flooding is possible in the region as river levels are expected to rise. A warning issued at 5.04pm on Thursday states: 'River levels are forecast to rise at the Tern - Walcot river gauge as a result of Storm Éowyn. Consequently, flooding of roads and farmland is possible overnight and into tomorrow (January 24). We expect flooding to affect low-lying land and roads adjacent to the river from Wolverley to Newport. Other locations that may be affected include Market Drayton, Wem and Rodington. Flooding of properties is not forecast at this point. Further rainfall is forecast over the next 48 hours. We expect river levels to remain high in the coming days.'
