Storm Éowyn battered Scotland with 100mph winds, leaving nearly 60,000 homes without power. The storm caused damage to the electricity network, hampering restoration efforts. While the red weather warning has lifted, high winds persist and some areas may experience outages for several days.

Nearly 60,000 Scots have been left without power after Storm Éowyn ravaged the country with 100mph winds.

Conditions throughout the majority of the day have remained difficult with an amber weather warning now in place and further winds of up to 80mph expected over the course of the night on the network. Multiple repair teams were mobilised across SP Energy Networks' area and are continuing working to restore customers where possible.
