The UK is set to be battered by heavy rain and strong winds as Storm Nelson makes its way across the country, with the Met Office issuing a number of weather warnings
Storm Nelson, named by Spanish weather authorities, might put a dampener on Easter celebrations at the tourist hotspot before it moves towards the UK with strong winds and heavy rains. Spain has already seen cold temperatures along with high winds and heavy rain, affecting Galicia, Castilla y Leon and Extremadura before marching towards the Pyrenees.
A rain warning has also been declared for eastern parts of Northern Ireland, from Tuesday evening to Wednesday dawn, expecting 15-25mm of rain for most areas, with up to 40mm possible over exposed eastern hills. Likewise, Scotland may see continuing hill snow, which isn't extraordinary for this time of year.
"In terms of hazards in the current forecast, we're continuing to keep an eye on some of the expected rainfall totals as they build up through the week, with some places, including Northern Ireland, still quite sensitive to rainfall amounts due to the wet winter many have experienced.
