UPDATE: Northern Ireland Secretary chhcalling says he will 'act rapidly' to cut assembly members' wages once new legislation takes effect

Mr Heaton-Harris said he understood why the public was "quite cross" that assembly members were drawing full pay while unable to do their job properly. One from the Democratic Unionist Party would require permanent secretaries overseeing Stormont departments to notify assembly members and MPs when they take a decision and provide their rationale.
