Dumfriesshire to join in The Scottish International Storytelling Festival this weekend and next
As part of The Scottish International Storytelling Festival, author and storyteller Allison Galbraith will be telling Funny Family Folktales tomorrow in the Loreburn Centre, Dumfries , at 2pm.
The free drop-in session, using woolly pets and songs for all ages, is linking with the region’s Wild Goose Festival. In the evening, Allison will be joined by storyteller Beverley Casebow for Scottish Folktales: Bridges to the Otherworld an evening of tales about vexed fairies, nature wisdom and the supernatural, told with much humour in Dumfries’ Riverside Tap at 7pm. The hour-long drop-in is free for12+. Booking and info online at www.wildgoosefestival.scot.
Also taking part in the Dumfries part of the festival at 7pm on Saturday, October 25, is guest storyteller, Nuala Hayes, who was founder/director of Dublin’s Storytelling Festival and is also an actor and broadcaster. She will be joined in The Stove Cafe by musician Aoife Granville, who currently teaches folklore at the University College Cork, for a relaxed evening event supported by Culture Ireland called, Stories and Songs of Ireland, which is inspired by the Irish people and places they both know and love.
