In this week's column, Sue asks us to 'menopause for thought' and remembers the days when no one dare mention the 'M' word.

When people talked about ‘the change’ or ‘women’s troubles’ or - hilariously - ‘the vapours’. When instead of discussing the menopause openly it was almost a dirty little secret; whispered conversations on doorsteps, knowing nods between women of a certain age?

It’s madness that we are losing highly skilled workers at the peak of their talent and experience simply because of this lack of awareness. And no, women need more than the ability to be able to open a window to tackle the myriad symptoms on their daily lives.

But shouldn’t this be a properly paid, full-time job? Now that really would send a message that the menopause - and women’s experiences of it - are being placed front and centre.A new survey that reckons doing household chores together boosts a couple’s sex life had me laughing so hard I had to put my mop and bucket down.
