“I knew that I most likely had a concussion but I didn’t leave the field to seek any medical care," said Yusko. “Within a month, I started having numbness and tingling on the right side of my face and headaches that were waking me up out of a sound sleep.” She was monitored and they eventually suggested surgery in 2023 to prevent seizures and other issues. Yusko said she was worried about the surgery for her and her family but said Dr. Martinez-Perez was constantly reassuring.
Yusko says people don’t need to be scared and recommends those in similar situations to seek help locally.
