The city council has spent towards £9million in the past five years on street cleaning activity

The financial cost of street cleaning, including work to tackle fly-tipping, and penalties given to offenders have been raised at lancaster-city-council>Lancaster City Council.

Coun Ainscough said: "There are many councillors who do a lot of work clearing litter and we are keen to see fly tipping reduced. The base budget for street cleansing annually is £1.8million for the 2023-24 financial year. She added: "The city council is committed to reducing the issue of fly-tipping across the district. It sees illegally dumped waste as the number one environmental challenge.
