Strictly Come Dancing professional Johannes Radebe is reportedly set to take a break from the BBC show following the 2024 series as he has too many work commitments
Strictly Come Dancing 's Johannes Radebe is rumoured to be leaving the show after the 2024 season. The 37 year old South African dance sensation, who has been a professional on the popular BBC competition since 2018, is currently partnered with Gladiators star Montell Douglas, 38, for the 2024 season and they're currently still in the running for the Glitterball Trophy.
However, reports suggest that Johannes is planning to pursue other dance opportunities next year, including turning his life story into a film. It's also been hinted that he's secured a leading role in a major stage musical, which would keep him busy for at least seven months, making it impossible for him to participate in Strictly's 2025 season.
The BBC show typically starts airing in August each year, but celebrities and their dance partners are paired up weeks before the launch show to allow time for training. With other commitments, it's feared Johannes will have to leave the show. A source told The Sun: "Johannes is hugely loved on the show and there isn't an atom of bad feeling about him leaving.
The source revealed that while Johannes might be taking a step back to manage his busy schedule, the door remains open for his return. They said: "He just has too much to juggle alongside the contest. It isn't just the announced projects that he's working on, there are other opportunities in the pipeline too, which he can now explore further," reports the Mirror.Johannes's autobiography JoJo: Finally Home is making waves towards a film adaptation, with Argo Films on board.
The Strictly sensation's memoir paints a vivid picture of his early life in the South African township of Zamelda and charts his ascent in the dance world, culminating in his performances on the hit BBC series Strictly Come Dancing.
