The BBC Strictly Come Dancing cast and crew erupted in a joyful display of hugs, kisses, and celebrations as the 2024 season drew to a close with Chris McCausland claiming the coveted glitterball trophy. The 47-year-old comedian, paired with professional dancer Dianne Buswell, 35, emerged victorious after a fierce competition against JLS singer JB Gill and Lauren Oakley, Love Island's Tasha Ghouri and Aljaž Škorjanec, and actress Sarah Hadland and Vito Coppola.
Dianne, also tearful, chimed in, telling Chris it was "for both of them" and screaming: "We did it! " As the show wrapped up, the cast and crew let loose, with head judge Shirley sharing a treasure trove of behind-the-scenes photos from the night on social media. Singer JB couldn't hide his broad grin as he hugged Shirley affectionately, while Lauren appeared ecstatic to catch up with the judge in another candid shot. Lauren stepped in for Amy Dowden, who had to withdraw from the competition after six weeks due to an injury.
She went on to say: "Thank you each and every one of you for tuning in and voting. We hoped you enjoyed the show as much as we did. A huge congratulations to @jbgill @laurenmayoakley @tashaghouri @aljazskorjanec @hadderstime @vitocoppola for your outstanding commitment to our show. Meanwhile, Stacey Dooley, who clinched the title with Kevin in 2018, playfully remarked she's swapping Kevin for Chris: "Baby, IM LEAVING YOU FOR CHRIS. He's knockout and I LOVE HIM." "Chris's journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. From the very first steps to mastering those breathtaking routines, he's shown us what is possible when you give it your all. It hasn't just been about the steps-it's been about the resilience, the growth, and the sheer joy of embracing something completely new."
