Comedian Chris McCausland is currently wowing BBC viewers with his Strictly Come Dancing performances, alongside his professional dance partner Dianne Buswell

Strictly Come Dancing favourite Chris McCausland has opened up about the trials of his rise to fame and the strain it put on his personal life. Speaking about his journey, Chris admits to having 'drove his wife insane' as he aimed high in TV. His stand-up career began back in 2003 and gradually, he set his sights on some of television's top comedy spots. It was in 2018 that he secured a place on a major BBC show.

Having been diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa, which led to blindness, Chris shares that there was an expectation from producers that he'd make light of his condition on the show. Although, Chris found amusement in the idea of surprising everyone with his prowess at Countdown rather than his disability-centric jokes. Now an established name, he's become a regular face on TV, combining his quick wit and reflective humour with dance moves on the Strictly stage.
