Strictly Come Dancing's iconic Blackpool set comes with all sorts of challenges, from physios being struck in a toilet to the set being dismantled to fit inside the Tower Ballroom
This weekend, Strictly Come Dancing returns to Blackpool in the iconic Tower Ballroom, a part of the series loved by its professional dancers, judges, celebrity contestants and viewers at home. While they'll dazzle us on the famous dancefloor, behind the scenes, there's a lot more to it, with broom cupboards turned into dressing rooms and a toilet used as a physio room.
In a previous interview with the BBC, Strictly's Line Producer Kate Jones revealed: "We turn broom closets into dressing rooms for our cast. They literally are tiny little broom closets." She added: "Which everyone loves", before revealing: "We even use a large toilet as our physio room. So the poor physio gets to spend the whole day in the toilet. We do cover the toilets for them.
However, Jason confidently spoke of the tradition's worthiness. "The room reeks of majesty and beauty and by bringing in Strictly, we add a little more," he declared. Tasha Ghouri, who is partnered with Aljaz Skorjanec on this year's Strictly, also opened up about the challenges and potential benefits she might experience due to the vibrant atmosphere in Blackpool.
