Reverend Richard Coles, who took part in the 15th series of Strictly Come Dancing, has claimed the show has a 'dark heart' and is incredibly competitive behind the scenes
Strictly Come Dancing has a "dark heart" that is kept hidden from its fans, according to one of the show's stars. The popular BBC show is currently facing a crisis following allegations that professional dancer Graziano Di Prima, 30, mistreated Zara McDermott, 27, during her time on the show last year.
Despite having a "uniformly good" experience dancing with Dianne Buswell on the show, he acknowledged the intense competitiveness of the series. Speaking to Times Radio, he said: "I remember somebody who worked on the show for years and years telling me Strictly is a wonderful show with a dark heart.
Childline founder Esther Rantzen, who participated in the 2004 series of Strictly, shared her perspective on the unfolding scandal, describing the programme as a "sacred cow" and "inflated beyond its worth". She expressed concern over the delay in addressing these issues, stating: "The only worry I have is why it took so long for these complaints to surface."
