Doctor Who has officially announced the addition of a former Strictly Come Dancing winner and EastEnders star to the cast of the upcoming series 14, alongside Ncuti Gatwa

Doctor Who is upping the ante with its season 14 line-up, as it welcomes Strictly Come Dancing 2021 champion Rose Ayling-Ellis to its star-studded cast. The showrunner Russell T Davies has confirmed that the EastEnders alum, who played Frankie Lewis and recently left the soap, will feature in what he describes as one of the scariest episodes in the series' history. During a Q&A, Davies gushed about Rose's performance: "We've got a story with Rose Ayling-Ellis in the lead.

A fourth tweeted their excitement, saying: "About time, I hope she becomes a regular! She's the best!!!" Meanwhile, on landing her new Doctor Who gig, Rose confessed: "I loved Doctor Who when I was growing up, so being cast in the show was a dream come true. My inner child is ecstatic with excitement."

In August, Doctor Who creator Russell T Davies has shared an exciting update about a new spin-off series of the hit sci-fi show. The War Between the Land and the Sea was officially announced at Comic Con last month after being heavily rumoured for a while. Now, the showrunner has revealed pre-production has started as of Monday 20 August as he gave fans a sneak peak at the first script readthrough with the cast and crew.
