The Liberal Party has voted on the fate of Moira Deeming after the upper house MP’s alleged threat of legal action forced the saga back into the limelight.
five frontbenchers emailed leader John PesuttThe motion explains the reason behind the move is because Ms Deeming"has engaged in conduct in violation of Clause 57, bringing discredit on the Parliamentary Party".
Sam Groth confirmed the verdict at 11:30am but refused to comment on reports that Ms Deeming threatened Mr Pesutto with legal action less than 24 hours before the vote."As a result to move forward we have made a desision. I will leave it to the leadership group to talk in detail but it is safe to say a clear and firm direction forward," he told reporters.
The five signatories on the motion were former leader Matthew Guy, along with Wayne Farnham, Cindy McLeish, James Newbury and Cindy McLeish.
