The Magpies have won just one game since the turn of the year
Stuart Maynard admitted that the challenge of managing Notts County has proven tougher than he first expected, with the "fine margins" denying his team the victories they crave.
The pressure is on for Maynard to show that he is the man to take the club forward with the games that remain this season, and it is fair to say that it has been a harsh learning experience for the 43-year-old stepping into the full-time game from Wealdstone. That being said, the Notts head coach still sees a ray of light in the darkness that is the 2024 form. This season may be facing obscurity quickly, but there is still a chance to regain some positive momentum, and Maynard needs to establish his style with a level of assurance that can see the players rediscover their confidence, and not play with an "anxiety" that was picked up on in the Accrington Stanley draw on Saturday.
"For that reason, it is fine margins that decide games, and we saw that we ended up with a point, but we quite easily could've come away with three. All the games we played in have been tight.
