Student Kieran Shafritz de Zoysa named as 2nd American killed in Sri Lanka blasts

Zoysa’s citizenship is unknown at this time. So is his age, but students are generally around 10-years-old when they enter fifth grade.

The principal of the middle school, Mamadou Guèye sent a letter to students’ families Monday mourning Zoysa’s death.‘This is obviously an unexpected tragedy for his family and for his greater community,’ the letter said.‘ passionate about learning, he adored his friends, and was incredibly excited about returning to Sidwell Friends in the coming school year.’

During a press conference Sunday, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that ‘several’ US citizens were killed in the devastating terror attack.
