A "brilliant" student, has remarkably overcome paralysis from the waist down after a tragic fall from a tree, to graduate as a medical doctor. At just 19, Xander Van der Poll fell from an ancient oak tree during a dog walk in Lavender Hall Park close to his Solihull home.

He also mentioned, "The funny thing was, the list was all based on assumptions, and none of the assumptions were true. Hospitals are already quite accessible and Bristol Uni was very helpful at fostering a level of independence." Alongside his wife, Kirsty Van der Poll, an amputee, they manage the Instagram account @ourchaoticadventure, with more than 11,500 followers, challenging the stigma around disability.
