Cambridge University Students’ Union has come under fire for ruling that the presence of soldiers at freshers’ fair could “detrimentally affect” students’ mental health, voting through a motion banning any society, such as the cadets, from bringing firearms along to the event. In 2018, CUSU also voted down a motion to promote Remembrance Sunday amid fears it could “glorify” conflict.
