Students and teachers in Elgin, a Chicago suburb, gathered at Elgin High School Football stadium to witness a partial solar eclipse. About 1,400 people were in awe as the sky darkened and the temperature dropped. The event was described as a unique and engaging experience for teenagers.

CHICAGO — It was an incredible day in the Chicago suburb of Elgin , where district administrators started preparing for the solar eclipse two years ago to ensure students could experience the partial eclipse on Monday. They saw about 93% of this solar eclipse in Elgin but felt so much more.'It's honestly beautiful. Right now, it looks kind of like a crescent moon,' said Elgin High School student Aidan Bicocchi.

'All you can see is the sun there,' Biocchi said. As the temperature dropped, students paid close attention. Looking around, you didn't see anyone on their phones. You didn't see anyone distracted. People really were engaged in this moment, and that's unique for teenagers.'Honestly, it is. This is a once-in-a-lifetime moment for most people. Especially to be able to do this at school with all of your friends.'At District U-46, it was a huge priority.
