A property entrepreneur and mum of two has managed to build a £2million portfolio just three years after buying her first investment property during lockdown. Sarah Hurst, 40, made the switch from a job at her family’s electrical contract business to follow her property dream, launching into a home-buying career in 2021.
“I was able to secure short-term bridging loans to release the extra funds I wanted to buy and renovate more properties,” said Sarah. “I was effectively using the property I owned as a cash machine to take out equity and put it into building my portfolio. It really took off from there.” However, even before building work starts on the Eden Project in the summer, the apartments are expected to attract a rental yield as serviced accommodation of 11.5 per cent, Sarah said. She said: “The Eden Project will be huge for tourism in Morecambe and visitors will need somewhere to stay. The apartments are on the prom with sea views and one is a duplex at the back.
Sarah added: “I source properties on well-known property sale websites but also have a good relationship with estate agents who come to me directly. I then refurbish and either flip the sites to release capital or rent them out and move on to the next project.
