AUKUS has provided the “vital piece” needed for Australia’s defence capabilities, according to Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.

“All of the experts have looked at and considered the issue of our submarines – as an island continent, submarines are a vital piece of our defence framework,” Mr Albanese said at a media conference on Thursday.

“The truth is, nuclear submarines are far superior to conventional submarines – they’re faster, they’re quieter, they can stay under for longer.”
