Suffolk County Council has announced that an additional £2m will be allocated for the repair and resurfacing of roads in villages. The decision is set to be made by the cabinet on 7 November, with most of the work planned for 2024/25. Conservative councillor, Paul West, highlighted the need for attention to be given to smaller roads in estates and off the beaten track in villages.

By Ben Parker Suffolk County Council said the money, in addition to the roads maintenance budget of £11m, will be used for repair and resurfacing of roads in villages.A decision is due to be made by the cabinet on 7 November and most of the work is planned to take place in 2024/25.

Conservative councillor, Paul West, the cabinet member for Ipswich and operational highways, said: "These smaller roads are often in estates or off the beaten track in our villages and are in need of some love and attention.""We're not working from a blank canvas, we've got lots of data and reports, that builds up a picture of where people think the priorities should be," he added.
