Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney says Heuermann was charged in the 1993 murder of Sandra Costilla and the 2003 murder of Jessica Taylor.
Heuermann faced a judge this morning.
Taylor was recovered in July of 2003 in Manorville and was found decapitated with her hands and arms severed below the elbow and a tattoo obliterated with a sharp object, the DA said. According to the DA, Taylor’s arms and skull were found on Ocean Parkway near the original “Gilgo four” victims. Officials say Costilla was found dead in 1993 in North Sea and suffered numerous sharp force injuries.According to the DA, Heuermann is also a suspect in the death of Valerie Mack.
The new charges come after a second search at Heuermann’s Massapequa Park home two weeks ago. Sources say investigators removed wood paneling from the basement walls. Heuermann has previously been charged with murder in the deaths of Maureen Brainard-Barnes, Melissa Barthelemy, Meghan Watermann and Amber Costello.
