Police said that based on preliminary information, the woman was shot by an unknown suspect who later fled the scene on foot following the shooting, according to police.
AKRON , Ohio - The Summit County Medical Examiner identified the 24-year-old who was fatally shot Sunday morning as Paige Calich of Akron .Police found a woman with a gunshot wound to her torso, the release said.
“I actually seen her walking past my window right before she passed away,"said neighbor, Noelle Jones. “It was a group of people and her kids. I was just thinking it’s late at night, like something is bound to happen”. 19 News spoke with neighbors, they say Calich was a good mother and looked out for kids in the neighborhood.
“Whoever is responsible for this, just know you took somebody who was a mom, somebody that had kids, a future,” said neighbor, Noelle Jones. Neighbors also told 19 News that there are a lot of security cameras at Summit Lake Apartments. We asked police if they were able to get the shooting on tape, but we were told they are still canvassing for video. Our team also reached out to the leasing office, but have not heard back.
