A police officer has been charged with felonious assault for firing his weapon at a burglary suspect while he tried to flee.
While the suspect was not hit by gunfire, 19 Investigates has learned a grand jury recently indicted Lakemore Officer Dylan Ukleja on one count of felonious assault, a second-degree felony.
“Ukleja entered the room first and had Sparrow at gunpoint,” one officer wrote in his report. “Sparrow was holding a large crowbar. Sparrow pivoted towards Ukleja and Ukleja fired his weapon.” Sparrow led the two officers on a brief foot pursuit but they were able to apprehend him on Krumroy Road. Ukleja pleaded not guilty to felonious assault at his arraignment in May and was released on a $10,000 signature bond.
