Bomb squad responds to Revere High School following chemistry mishap
Published: May. 21, 2024 at 10:25 PM EDT SUMMIT COUNTY , Ohio - It’s not too often that a high school has to call in the Summit County Sheriff’s bomb squad for a mishap in chemistry class but that’s exactly what happened at around 10:30 Tuesday morning at Revere High School.
Chief Sinopoli said the mixture of chemicals created silver nitrate which could turn into silver fulminate which is highly explosive, so to be safe the fire department and the school decided to evacuate Revere High School. “We had the intersections blocked near the high school. We made sure there was no one around the area. In fact, faculty members and administrators who were with us we were all asked to take cover behind either a building or a vehicle.”
