“This landmark proposal is testament to the collective determination of schools, families and councillors to respond to public concerns and deliver ambitious action.told the Conservative Party Conference on Monday that the Department for Transport would crack down on the use of lower speed limits as part of the Government’s push to be “pro-motorist”.
The Cabinet minister suggested that the use of 20mph limits “may actually increase pollution and risks motorists ignoring 20mph zones where they are needed”. It follows Mr Sunak’s condemnation of the use of 20mph speed limits over the weekend, when he claimed such clampdowns on motorists were “an attack on the day-to-day lives of people across the UK”.
