Sunak suggests state pension could jump by 8%

The state pension is currently worth £203.85 per week, but under the triple lock that is set to increase by £15.90 after wages grew by 7.8%.

Rishi Sunak has suggested that state pensions could rise by almost 8% next year. The Prime Minister said he is committed to "its police on the triple lock".

Earlier today, the Office for National Statistics said CPI had fallen to 6.8% in July, down from 7.9% in June.
