Eighty-year old Irene from Aberfeldy has seen off crocs in South America and won world titles for her jam-making but now she's considering throwing herself off a plane for charity.
An inspirational 80-year-old from Perthshire is preparing for a skydive in support of the Perth-based emergency helicopter service that has flown so many people to safety.“But it is going to be nothing to face my fear for 30 minutes compared to the bravery of the helicopter crew, who never know what their working day will hold.”
Irene left her Highland Perthshire town to be a contestant in the gripping survival series having signed up to be a daredevil island adventurer alongside 11 other - much younger - hopefuls. Irene got an invitation to attend the Queen’s Garden Party in July 2019 “for being an inspiration to older people” for her part on the TV show.
Another four years later, Irene is still in touch with her jungle buddies but the intrepid retiree wants once again to put herself in jeopardy - this time strapped to a skydive professional. “They are brave, compassionate people, so overcoming my fear of heights in their honour is something I’d be proud to do.
