Superman has a huge variety of powers that most fans are familiar with, but few remember his ability to destroy electronics with a glance.

Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT There are few DC characters with as many superpowers as Superman, but one of his lesser-known abilities is how he can immediately shut down any electronics with a single glance. Fans knows the vision-based abilities that Superman has, such as heat vision, telescopic vision, and X-ray vision. Still, few readers are aware of the actual pure destructive ability his vision powers apparently has.

One surprising application of Superman's vision powers is hown in Action Comics #2 by Grant Morrison, Rags Morales, Brent Anderson, Rick Bryant, and Patrick Brosseau. Taking place early in DC's New 52 continuity, this story arc spotlights one of the first times Superman tried being a hero in Metropolis. He is fairly quickly captured by Lex Luthor and the US military, who are suspicious of this strange alien man.

As Lex interrogates and tortures his captive, Superman reveals he has the ability to see all kinds of light and other radiation — as well as expel them from his eyes. Superman then releases microwaves from his eyes to completely fry all the computers in the room.

Clark's eyes can do a lot: Superman has heat vision, telescopic vision, x-ray vision, and, under certain suns, he even has "Superman vision." All of these are unbelievably powerful in their own way, but his powers often have far more uses than Superman has time to show off. Whenever Superman needs to locate something or check on someone, he uses his X-ray vision to see through buildings or people's bodies, depending on the situation.

Superman's Eyes Can Do A Lot More Than See Superman is one of the most powerful characters in DC Comics; that isn't necessarily because of the number of powers Superman has, but rather how he uses them. Superman has shown time and again that inventive use of his powers is more important than just having them.
