Just two of its branches will have any self-service tills left

A supermarket chain has scrapped almost all its self-service machines and put staff back behind its tills. All but two of the shops will have fully-staffed tills.

A spokesman said: "We believe colleagues serving customers delivers a better customer experience and therefore we have taken the decision to remove self-checkouts in the majority of our stores.
