Two leading supermarkets have issued an urgent recall on certain cough syrups due to potential contamination. The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) issued a Class 2 recall notice for four specific products, including Tesco Health Dry Cough Relief, Asda Strong Dry Tickly Cough, Almus Dry Cough Relief, and Bells Dual Action Dry Cough. The recall was prompted by a single customer complaint of foreign material in some bottles. While no action is required from patients, they are advised to be vigilant for any visible contamination and contact a healthcare professional if they experience any health issues after using the product.

The Medicines and Health care Products Regulatory Agency has published a Class 2 medicines recall notice for four specific products which could be contaminated.
All the recalled items contain dextromethorphan hydrobromide, which is used to temporarily ease coughs from colds, flu, or other conditions. While these products do not treat the health issue directly, they are commonly used to help people with a chronic cough get to sleep.The recall notice states: "Bells Healthcare is recalling the listed batches of dextromethorphan hydrobromide BP containing products as a precautionary measure, due to foreign material detected in some bottles.
"No action is required by patients as this is a Pharmacy, Retailer and Wholesaler level recall. Patients should be vigilant for any visible contamination and contact a healthcare professional if they have any concerns related to the product."
