Superstar cyclist Remco Evenepoel wrecks bragging rights for Scots amateurs after stealing Strava records
Superstar cyclist Remco Evenepoel has wrecked the bragging rights for some of Scotland’s top amateurs after blitzing their record times. The Belgian road racer and time-triallist’s training run on Tuesday re-wrote a bunch of records on the Strava training app, where thousands of Scots try to win coveted 'KOMs' for fastest times.
Sammy, whose dad Colin is a PR boss at Glasgow City Council, said that, despite the loss of the KOM, he was flattered to be in such lofty company. “I remember the day I got that KOM on that stretch because I was behind the bunch of riders in a race and I had to kill myself to catch up. The technology also allows to users to plot their own “segments”, and be measured against anyone else who follows in their wake.
Some KOM holders have been “black flagged” by rivals in the past for taking the top chart position using a motorbike or car.
