Jacob Chansley pleaded guilty to his role in the January 6 Capitol riot and was sentenced to 41 months in jail.

A recent Supreme Court ruling has given Jacob Chansley, known as 'QAnon Shaman,' a new choice in his U.S. Capitol riot case.In June, the Court ruled in Fischer v. United States that Justice Department prosecutors went too far in bringing an obstruction charge against hundreds of defendants accused of participating in the January 6, 2021, riot.

Chansley pleaded guilty in 2021 and was sentenced to 41 months in jail, followed by 36 months of supervised release. He was released from jail on March 28, 2023, and began the 36-month term on May 25 that year. The motion states that Chansley received a custodial sentence that was four times longer than would have been called for by the sentencing guidelines without the sentencing enhancement of 'substantial interference with the 'administration of justice.
