New details have emerged about Samantha Murphy’s alleged killer, with a former schoolmate of the 22-year-old revealing his ambition saw him described as “the next Elon Musk”.

A former schoolmate of Patrick Stephenson has revealed the ambition that saw the alleged killer of Samantha Murphy compared to Elon Musk.

A former Damascus College student, who went to the school with Stephenson for two years, said the accused was interested in IT, science and robotics, even comparing him to Elon Musk. “I remember him talking about how he wanted to come up with a solution to make cars more environmentally friendly to reduce carbon emissions.

Stephenson started high school at St Patrick's College, before moving to Damascus College for years 10-12. According to the Herald Sun, the 22-year-old had been on a"massive" night out before he allegedly killed Ms Murphy. Picture: Supplied
