Surrey Police has concluded a five-month investigation into an incident where a police officer rammed an escaped calf called Beau Lucy, deciding that no criminal or misconduct charges will be pursued. The officer will return to frontline duties with no further action.

Surrey Police said the tactic of ramming the terrified calf was 'both lawful and necessary to prevent harm to the public and property', and that no criminal investigation or internal misconduct proceedings would follow. Deputy Chief Constable Nev Kemp said: 'We appreciate the strength of feeling which remains in relation to this incident, which is why we committed to conducting a diligent and thorough investigation to determine whether any criminal offences had taken place in relation to the actions taken by Surrey Police on the night.
