The surveillance video released Tuesday shows the moment Ali fired at his supervisor from close range and later shows him leaving the facility. The gun malfunctions and Ali is seen pulling it back down to recock it. He then points the gun at the man’s head again and fires it.Gunfire can be seen in the video and the other security guard is seen getting out of the chair and looking backward toward Ali.
The West Jefferson Police Department said at least one shot was from within the building. The facility was cleared and there were no reported injuries. The encounter led to an exchange of gunfire between Ali and responding officers, according to Columbus police. Two outside agencies responded to the encounter as well.
