A man who was beaten and sexually abused by shamed Celtic Boys Club manager Frank Cairney has called on Celtic Football Club to “do the right thing”.
He said: “Celtic FC need to do the right thing now. We’re not storytellers. What we’re saying happened, happened. They’re not spurious stories. You’re not going to invent something like that. It’s just a cover up. Andy told the podcast how Cairney would abuse players during training at Barrowfield and on trips away. He gave harrowing details about an alleged incident which he claims to have seen during a trip to the Telford International Football Tournament in April 1979.
Andy also told the podcast how Cairney had molested him in the back of a car on the way to a match. He said: “We went to play St Mirren and I was in the back of his motor. I had a player either side of me and we got to Paisley and were sitting waiting on the dressing rooms opening.
