A 36-year-old man was pronounced dead at The Burnbank Centre after the alarm was raised on Monday afternoon while a 59-year-old man was taken to hospital.
A suspect has been arrested amid a murder investigation after a man was killed and another injured at a community centre in South Lanarkshire. Police Scotland said officers received a report of two men injured within The Burnbank Centre in Hamilton at about 3.50pm on Monday. Emergency crews attended and a 36-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene while a 59-year-old man was taken by ambulance to hospital. A 56-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.
Superintendent Richard Taylor said: 'We believe this was an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public. 'We have an increased police presence in the area as we understand this could be a very upsetting and worrying time for the local community. 'Anyone with concerns is asked to speak to these officers.
